Basic Phrases

  1. Hvala = Thank you
  2. Da = Yes. An affirmative exclamation. 
  3. Ne  = No. Fairly straightforward and direct.
  4. Dobar dan = Hello, Good afternoon.
  5. Ćao = Hi. or Bye. Much like Aloha this word can be used both when meeting and leaving.
  6. Gde je toalet? = Where is the bathroom? Obviously useful, but getting you into the realm of phrases where you need to understand the answer.
  7. Koliko to košta? = How much is it?
  8. Šta je to? = What is it? This phrase is especially useful to expand your vocabulary.
  9. Dobro jutro = Good morning
  10. Dobro veče = Good afternoon
  11. Laku noć = Good night
  12. Doviđenja = Goodbye
  13. Kako se zoveš? = What is your name?
  14. Zovem se...  = My name is... 
  15. Kako si? = How are you?
  16. Hvala dobro, a ti? = Fine thanks, and you? 
  17. Razumem. = I understand.
  18. Ne razumem. = I don't understand.  
  19. Ne pričam srpski. = I don't speak Serbian.  
  20. Nazdravlje  = Cheers!

Other SERB phrases

  1. Zatvoreno zbog tehničkih razloga. = Closed due to technical reasons.
  2. Birate nepostojeći broj. = The number you are calling does not exist.
  3. Sledeća stanica je:  = Next stop: 
  4. Da li mogu da ti pomognem? = May I help you?
  5. Plaćam za sve! = I pay for everyone!
  6. Koliko to košta? = How much does it cost?
  7. Možemo da platimo. = We're ready to pay. (asking for the bill at a restaurant)
  8. Da li je ovo sedište zauzeto? = Is this seat taken?
  9. Da li želiš da plešeš? = Would you like to dance?
  10. Kako se kaže...na srpskom? = How do you say... in Serbien? .
  11. Volim te = I love you
  12. Molim te pričaj sporije = Please speak more slowly
  13. Srećni novogodišnji i božićni praznici = Merry Christmas and happy New Year
  14. Srećan rođendan! = Happy Birthday
  15. Ovaj gospodin će platiti za sve = This gentleman will pay for everything
